Woman in San Francisco Has Breast Implant Revision For Capsular Contracture

Procedure Details

This patient presented with concerns of changes to the appearance of her right breast following breast augmentation by another surgeon several years prior. She stated that the right breast has become hardened and felt tight. She also described intermittent pain associated with the right breast. In her consultation with Dr. Gray, he determined that the patient had capsular contracture of the right breast implant. Dr. Gray recommended breast revision surgery to remove the scar capsule at the right breast. They also discussed making some aesthetic changes that would give the patient the perkier and fuller look she desired. During surgery, the patient's previous set of breast implants were removed. Dr. Leonard Gray removed scar tissue from the right breast by performing a capsulectomy of the implant pocket. He then went on to place Strattice in the lower poles of the breasts to prevent recurrence of capsular contracture. The patient received a new pair of high profile silicone gel breast implants to achieve the patient's goals for enhanced fullness and pronounced cleavage. Results are pictured 6 months following her breast revision surgery.
